Over the course of a bowl game photographers make tens of throusands of photos, hundreds of which are published online and in print. Finding a different view view is a huge challenge.

During the Fiesta Bowl I looked like most of the other photographers on the sidelines. I had a large telephoto lens to make tight pictures like a player tackling an opponent and I had a second camera and lens for working close to the players as they were hopefully going to be celebrating a big win.

I also brough a secret weapon.

On the day after Christmas when I flew to Arizona to photograph the 2017 Fiesta Bowl my carry-on item that got the greatest scrutiny from airport security was an 8K 360 3D camera from Insta360™. This camera allowed me to make ultra-high resolution 360-degree pictures. I was the only person on the sidelines equipped to do this.

The images in this gallery were created with the Insta360 and I'm sharing them with you here. My "regular" photos were published on DKPittsburghSports.
