The No. 11 Penn State menʼs soccer team (11-5-1) lost another tough game 2-1, in double overtime against No. 9 Akron (13-3-1) to close out their regular season. The Nittany Lions held the lead for most of the second half, before a free kick by Akron in the 82nd minute, sent the game into overtime. Penn State lost the game in double overtime on another free kick from the Zips.

! Freshman Connor Maloney scored his first goal of his career off an assist from Michael Gonzalez. The freshman has been the leading assister for the Nittany Lions, with seven on the year. Maloneyʼs goal came in the the 40th minute.
! Akil Howard was sent off after a scrum began during Akronʼs celebration of the game-tying goal, forcing Penn State to play a man down the rest of the game.

! Keeper Andrew Wolverton had a solid game in net with nine saves, but his valiant effort was not enough for the Nittany Lions to preserve the victory. Akron obtained another free kick with four minutes left in the match. A great shot by Quinn won the game for Akron. It was Quinnʼs second goal of the game. Penn State plays again November 15, in the Big Ten semifinals, as the top seed. The Nittany Lions will face the winner of the 4th and 5th seed game.
