NFL Best Bets: Week 11

Story posted November 16, 2019 in CommRadio, Sports by Ben Geller

With sports betting gradually becoming legal in more and more places across the country, NFL football is becoming one of the prime betting targets. Of course, there are surprises aplenty across the NFL every single week, so one has to be informed in order to make the right betting decisions. To help with that, let’s go through the five best bets you can make in week 11.

Carolina Panthers (-4) vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons beat the Saints last week as the biggest underdog of the entire season. Matt Ryan played a solid game connecting with Julio Jones, while the defense put together an amazing performance to support their coach Dan Quinn who is on the hot eat. The Carolina Panthers lost to the Packers in a close effort, but still look like a potential wildcard team with Kyle Allen playing quarterback.

It was an anomaly that the Falcons played a great game as there 2-7 record displays. It will not happen again and the Panthers will dominate from the opening kickoff.  This game is only a four point spread because of recency bias, which makes it an easy win for any better.  The Panthers are better all-around and have more to play for which will lead to a comfortable victory.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+2.5) vs Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are down to their third-string quarterback and that is exactly what Brian Hoyer looks like.  The team lost to the Dolphins with him and it is only going to go downhill from here.  The offensive line does not look as good as it did early in the season, which causes issues for the passing attack. The Jaguars finally get back Nick Foles from his week one injury and they will only get better from here.

If Jacoby Brissett played, then the Colts would win but he is not playing. Hoyer will face too much pressure from “Sacksonville,” and Foles will capitalize on the turnovers. The Jaguars will cover in the first half, and will be winning the whole game.  It is an unfortunate situation for the Colts because they have the potential to be a top team in the AFC without so many key injuries.

New York Jets (+2.5) vs. Washington Redskins

New York Jets fans are partying because they won the state rivalry and got there second win. The Jets team is inconsistent but played well all around against the New York Giants. The Redskins look like they are in the race for the number one pick, and will have work to do with the awful Cincinnati Bengals.

Dwayne Haskins is now the starting quarterback because of injuries but the Jets pressure will give him issues. Gregg Williams will bring Jamal Adams off of the edge and the Redskins have no answer.  The Jets will win this game from start to finish, because they are the only team on the field trying to win and have more talent from running back to safety.

Arizona Cardinals (+10.5) vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Cardinals have been a pleasant surprise this season with Kyler Murray leading the air raid offense to success. Even with the young team, every game they play is close and they have potential to be a great team in a couple of years. The running back position with David Johnson and Kenyan Drake help them stabilize the heavy passing. The 49ers have been amazing all around with a top-two defense in the entire league.

Coming off of their first lost at home to the Seahawks, the only question is Jimmy Garoppolo.

San Francisco will win this game, but just like the last time these teams play, it will be close. Murray presents a difficult and unique challenge for every team and he showed that against this 49ers defense. The mobility will help him get away from the pressure and he will give them issues that Russell Wilson gave them last week. A late touchdown will separate these teams, resulting in a Cardinals cover.

New England Patriots (-3.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Patriots defense is one of the best all time and has been carrying the team all season. Tom Brady is not as good as he used to be, but he still will lead them to another AFC Championship game and a possible superbowl appearance. The Eagles now have their two toughest games of the season and it comes at a good time because they have a two game winning streak and momentum. If the Eagles receivers did not drop Carson Wentz’s passes they would be 7-2 and talked about as one of the best teams in the NFC.

It is unfortunate that the Eagles have to play the Patriots, because it is a terrible matchup for an offense with struggling receiver’s. The Patriots defense will lock down the Eagles all game, and will cause havoc in the backfield. Several turnovers will help the Patriots cruise to an easy victory leaving Eagle fans disappointed. New England will dominate and cover from very early in the game.
