In The Game is a TV magazine show with sports feature stories told by students in Penn State's Bellisario College of Communications. This is the first episode for Spring 2022.

Fourth-Year / Broadcast Journalism

Jacob Cheris is a fourth-year majoring in broadcast journalism from Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is an aspiring sports writer. Jacob is a huge Washington Capitals fan and has a great passion for hockey. He played all throughout high school. He is also a member of Penn State Sports Night, where he analyzes hockey and other sports on YouTube. Jacob also covers Penn State Men’s hockey as the lead editorial writer for Penn State Rivals, giving in depth analysis on the team, and feature stories on specific players.  Jacob is also the host of CommRadio’s hockey talk show “The Sin Bin”. Jacob is looking to expand his love for hockey and use it across all sports.

Evan Popalis is a third-year from Lititz, Pennsylvania, majoring in broadcast journalism. He is a writer, analyst, and play-by-play commentator for the CommRadio sports department. His writings include weekly NHL betting previews along with power rankings for the NHL and NFL. He appears weekly on the NHL Podcast as a host and analyst reviewing the previous week’s action. Alexa Leidlein, or better known as Lexy, is a senior from Newtown, Connecticut majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in sports studies. Leidlein currently serves as the News Producer for Penn State Network News and Treasurer of PSNTv. Leidlein creates content for Penn State Sports Night and is a dedicated member of Penn State’s chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media, known as AWSM. Leidlein previously interned with Stapleton Sports Group as a social media intern. Leidlein works for Penn State Campus Recreation with the Competitive Sports division and the Customer Service division. Rylee is a senior multimedia journalist from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania dual majoring in Broadcast Journalism and African American Studies. Her ultimate professional goal is to host her own talk show that uplifts, celebrates and educates the African American community at large. As a student she is actively pursuing this goal through her academics and extracurricular activities. On campus, Rylee serves as the Co-Editor in Chief of Sovereign Magazine, which is the first magazine for students of color on Penn State’s University Park campus. She works as an anchor and reporter for Centre County Report and Penn State Network News. Rylee is also the host of her very own podcast, The Rylee Sage Podcast. Alongside of finishing her undergraduate studies, Rylee is also a student in Penn States Master’s of Public Policy Program. In the future Rylee hopes to combine all of her passions to change the world with her voice!
