Logan Bourandas is a third-year broadcast journalism major from Long Island, NY. He is a the news director for CommRadio and the host of Ducks on the Pond, which is an all-baseball talk show on CommRadio. He is also a sports writer, broadcaster and podcaster for CommRadio. He got his start as the station manager for his high school radio station WPOB in his hometown of Plainview, NY, where he hosted numerous radio shows and was involved in sports broadcasts. Jonathan Draeger
Third Year / Broadcast Journalism
Jonathan “Jon” Draeger is a third-year student from Butler, Pennsylvania, majoring in broadcast journalism at Penn State University. He is the Production Director for CommRadio, alongside his work as a broadcaster and producer for the Sports department and insider for Penn State Men’s Basketball. Jon also works on the “After The Whistle” live show. Austin Groft is a senior student from Lancaster, Pennsylvania majoring in broadcast journalism at Penn State. He is a play-by-play announcer for CommRadio and Big Ten Plus. Joseph Callahan
Four-Year / Broadcast Journalism
Growing up, Joe Callahan Jr. strove to become a professional athlete, even to the point of participating in the walk-on tryouts for the Penn State football team. Now, he strives for a broadcasting career. Host of CommRadio’s live debate talk show and 2021 ‘Talk Show of the Year’, titled ‘Phone Booth’, he is a go to personality in debating professional and collegiate sports on the airways. Being mostly an on-air talent, he is also an analyst on Penn State Sports Night, the sports debate show on Penn State Network Television Network, host and analyst on The Sportsblitz, the sports talk show on TheLion90.7FM, an anchor for Centre County Report, the student local news station of Centre County, host on After the Whistle, Penn State’s local high school football recap show, the creator of The Valley Network, a mainly sports television broadcasting network. In the professional, he was on the media team for the 2022 Valley League Summer Champions, the Charlottesville Tom Sox.
Carlos Garcia

Carlos Garcia is a junior from Miami, Florida, studying broadcast journalism. Carlos is involved with play-by-play for various Penn State sports and is a contributing writer for sports articles in CommRadio. Outside of CommRadio, Carlos is an Executive Producer for “After the Whistle”, a news anchor for PSN News, and the Creator of “Valley Network Sports”. Carlos has had the opportunity to report internationally in Estonia and work with the MLB Network as a sophomore. His career goals include covering news and sports at a national level. Justin Ciavolella

Justin Ciavolella is a second-year student from Sayville, New York, majoring in broadcast journalism. He is a writer, podcaster and broadcaster within the sports department of CommRadio. Ciavolella has written articles on various topics, but tends to focus on previews of Penn State sporting events. He is an analyst on Phone Booth, a sports debate talk show for the station, as well as a co-host on Bomber Boys, a Yankee talk show. He is also involved with the production of After the Whistle. CheRanda Hammond is a third-year majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in sports studies and marketing. She is a first-year member of CommRadio and After The Whistle and a second-year member in Penn State Sports Night. I am involved in Penn State’s THON with the organization FOTO. She is also a member of Minorities in Sports: Next and Association for Women in Sports Media national and Penn State Chapter.
McKenna Wall

McKenna Wall is a first-year student from Allentown, Pennsylvania majoring broadcast journalism. Wall is a multimedia reporter for CommRadio. She got her start as a camera operator in high school, learning how to use professional handheld camcorders, ENG cameras, and a jib camera. Isabel Sweet

Isabel Sweet is a freshman with an intended major in Film Production at Penn State University. She is originally from Felton, DE. Outside of CommRadio she is involved with After the Whistle, PSU Club Swim, DASH, Dear Hero Program, Blue & White Society, Student Film Org., PSNtv, and College of Communication Student Council. Within these organizations she has been credited for camera operation, co-director, scoreboards, and more! She’s currently working on two student films and hopes to learn from every experience. Her goal is to work with a big entertainment & media corporation.

Amanda Vogt is a freshman broadcast journalism major at Penn State University. She has already gotten involved in several Bellisario organizations. She is a reporter for the Daily Collegian on the women’s soccer beat. In CommRadio, Amanda is in the sports department and loves to cover the NFL and talk everything sports! In addition, she is apart of Penn State Sports Night and those segments can be found on its Youtube channel. Amanda is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) and the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM).
