Friends race to support teacher with brain tumor

Jamie Barbarich Covol, an autistic support teacher at Mount Nittany Elementary School in State College, was diagnosed with a brain tumor eight years ago. After being in remission for a long  time, the tumor recently reappeared.

Having participated in the "Race for Hope" in Philadelphia to support the National Brain Tumor Society for a few years, Covol decided to organize a similar race in State College to raise funds and awareness on Sunday, November 9. Covol's friends, Sarah Hackman and Kristen Dewitt of Gary's Woods Elementary School ran in the 5k.
