UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This weekend, Penn State kicked off Parents & Families Weekend with the annual Pumpkin Festival at the arboretum, which attracted hundreds.

Decorated pumpkins were put on display and entered in a contest in which people voted for the best pumpkin. many people showed up with their friends and family to take a look at the jack-o’-lanterns.

“Seeing all the pumpkins decorated by the little kids is so cute,” freshman Bethany Simon said.

Several activities were offered, such as face painting, enjoying fall foods and decorating pumpkins.

Educational intern Emma Spackman-Morris helped out with the festival.

“Last weekend, we handed out close to a thousand pumpkins,” Spackman-Morris said. “As you can see throughout the garden they are displayed everywhere, and people in the community can decorate them however they would like.”
