NFL Week One Winners

Minnesota Vikings:

There has not been as much hype around the Vikings going into this season as there should be. After all, they made the NFC championship game last season. On Sunday the Vikings’ offense proved just why they should not be doubted and are definitely super bowl contenders. Kirk Cousins looked extremely poised and confident in his new offense finishing with a 95.1 QBR for the day. Dalvin Cook also looks completely recovered from his torn ACL now in his second year. It is hard to find a weak point in the Vikings and they are viable to win the NFC this year just as much as anyone else.

Kansas City Chiefs:

Despite the excitement behind new quarterback Pat Mahomes and the new look Chiefs offense, there was still reasonable doubt on how it would all work. On Sunday, the Chiefs eliminated any doubt people may have had about their offense as they scored 38 points against the Chargers’ defense including a monster three-touchdown performance from Tyreek Hill. Hill and Mahomes look to be a perfect match of skill-sets. With a weak AFC this year the Chiefs’ new explosive offense could see them potentially contending for a Super Bowl berth this year.

New York Jets:

Despite recent years, Jets fans have a young core they should be really excited about. Third overall pick Sam Darnold looked really composed especially recovering after his first NFL throw ended up being a pick six. The Jets’ defense, led by a young core of Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams, Darron Lee and Morris Claiborne, was able to intercept Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford four times. The Jets may not make the playoffs this season but Jets fans now have an energized team to rally around in upcoming seasons.
