STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — There’s a new eatery in downtown State College. Hello Bistro, located on 126 W. College Ave., opened its doors to customers on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

For Hello Bistro’s opening celebrations, customers had the chance to enjoy the cozy environment and food, and win a variety of prizes and giveaways, such as free salads for a year or other merchandise. Customers also were given a coupon for free fries on their next visit to the restaurant.

Hello Bistro offers a variety of salads, burgers and melts for students and residents. They have 13 specialty salads, such as the carribbean shrimp salad and the autumn apple chicken and pear salad.

Customers could also customize their own salad with unlimited toppings for only one set price. For those who do not eat salads, they also offer made-to-order beef, turkey and veggie burgers.

For a limited time, Hello Bistro is serving the “We Are” speciality salad, which is only available at the State College location to celebrate the Penn State community. Kayla Farttini, Hello Bistro’s marketing manager, is excited to offer the salad to customers.

“The ‘We Are’ salad contains numerous ingredients that are actually a really good combination,” Farttini said. “It includes our chicken and tomatoes, and it has some red peppers and red onions in it as well. [It has] black olives, mozzarella balls, some croutons, and it’s finished off, topped with our homemade Italian vinaigrette.”

The salad will only be available until Nov. 25.

Hello Bistro also has a charity program called #GiveSomeGreen. For every specialty salad purchased, the restaurant will donate its produce to a local food bank.
