Fantasy Hockey: Week 19

Story posted February 23, 2023 in CommRadio, Sports by James Morrison

At this point in the season there are only three matchups left and while most seasons may already be over some playoff teams could use a boost to get in.

This boost may come from a trade or more likely in the form of a waiver wire pickup after the trade deadline.
Forwards are the position group that changes the most especially because line changes can either help the talent around players or hurt them.

If Robby Fabbri is not injured after he left the game against the Capitals early, he has been on fire as of late with 18 points in the last two weeks.

Fabbri is owned in under 10 percent of leagues and is playing with Jakub Vrana and Joseph Veleno on the third line.

JT Compher continues to be one of the most underrated players on the Avalanche and in the fantasy hockey world.

His points come from mostly shots on net and blocked shots which makes him an ideal fantasy option because he does not need to score to get points.

It is ridiculous that he is owned in under 20 percent of leagues when he should be owned in around sixty but he does not come with the star name.

Anthony Beauvillier has been a star ever since the Canucks traded for him and has 16.5 points in the past two weeks to show for it.

Playing top line minutes with Elias Pettersson and Andrei Kuzmenko, he should receive a lot of scoring chances and have plenty of opportunities to cash in on them as he has already been doing.

The Ducks may be struggling to score points but Frank Vatrano has scored three goals in his last five games.

He is currently playing third line minutes but has a chance to move up in the lineup with the trade deadline coming up and potential players being on the move.

On defense, Ryan Graves has been one of the best defenseman as of late with 18.1 points in the last two weeks.

He has just three points over the past six games and in the two games where he scored at least a point he had at least four fantasy points.

Samuel Girard is one of the better defenseman on the Avalanche has been a very reliable fantasy player the past few weeks.

Girard has not scored under a point in his last six games.

Goaltender Filip Gustavsson has been getting more and more starts for the Minnesota Wild and has won four out of the last five games that he started.

In the past four games he has given up more than one goal once and has earned the starting goaltender position in Minnesota.

Connor Ingram plays behind Karel Vejmelka in Arizona but has been making the most of his opportunities to start when they are given which makes him a good single day streamer.
