UCF starting QB, Blake Bortles has been raising eyebrows after his stellar sophmore campaign. Bortles wasn’t highly recruited out of high school, with offers coming from Purdue, Kentucky, and Colorado State.

The now junior starting quarterback was named to several preseason watch lists, including the presigous Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Awards, which are given to the nation’s top player and quarterback respectively.

During his sophmore season at UCF he threw for 24 touchdowns and 3,059 yards, while also rushing for eight touchdowns. He compiled a 10-game streak of two or more touchdowns, becoming the first player in UCF history to acompish that feat.

At Penn State’s weekly press conference, coach Bill O'Brien seemed to hold the junior ffrom Oviedo, Florida, in pretty high regards.

"One thing you need to understand about their offense is that they have a really good quarterback,” said O’Brien. “It's hard to totally stop a guy like that, but you've got to try to contain him. He's very, very good. He's a pro prospect, Blake Bortles."

Bortles has been building on his great 2012 season by starting the 2013 campaign with four passing touchdowns no interceptions, with one rushing touchdown. Bortles, who still has a year of eligibility after this year, is definitely a player to watch not only aginst Penn State, but also for the rest of the college football season.
