As the new season starts off for Penn State Hockey, months and months of training is paying off as they are 4-0 after two weeks, and for the first time since the 2017-18 preseason rankings, they have been ranked inside the top ten of the USCHO.com poll. Sophomore forward Evan Barratt has not come short of contributing to this success. Rhea Jha has the story:

Before Barratt joined the Nittany Lions, he was already a recognizable name, being drafted in the third round by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

During the season he also won a Gold Medal in the 2017 World Junior Championship playing with the U.S. National Team. He played two seasons with them and registered 56 points in 63 games.

Barratt proved his worth as at Penn State, and as a freshman, finished with 11 goals and seven assists.

In contrast to last year where he was injured on the first shift, Barratt has come into this season healthy and confident, as he is tied for the team lead for points with two assists and one goal.

Barratt’s one goal was made last week in their first game against Niagara, where he scored through the five-hole extending Penn State’s lead in 44 seconds to 5-1 with the help of his fellow linemen Alex Limoges and Liam Folkes.

Barratt has shown to have great chemistry, on and off the ice, with Limoges and Folkes, which will be crucial for the rest of the season.
