Penn State opens its 2023 season under the lights.

On Saturday afternoon, the program confirmed its contest against West Virginia on Sept. 2 will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on NBC. It was announced on Saturday during the Kentucky Derby.

The last time the Nittany Lions hosted a season and home opener night game was Sept. 1, 2001, versus Miami.

It is also the blue and white’s first game on NBC since Sept. 16, 2006, at Notre Dame, and it’s the first time Beaver Stadium is hosting a game broadcasted by NBC.

Penn State leads the all-time series against the Mountaineers 48-9-2, and the contest is the first time these two programs have played each other since 1992.
