NFL Best Bets: Week 10

Story posted November 9, 2019 in CommRadio, Sports by Ben Geller

With sports betting gradually becoming legal in more and more places across the country, NFL football is becoming one of the prime betting targets. Of course, there are surprises aplenty across the NFL every single week, so one has to be informed in order to make the right betting decisions. To help with that, let’s go through the five best bets you can make in Week 10.

Buffalo Bills (+3) vs. Cleveland Browns

The Bills are 6-2 with a terrifying defense and a young quarterback in Josh Allen. They keep winning the games that they are supposed to. Meanwhile, the 2-6 Browns need a win to stop their losing streak. If Baker Mayfield keeps throwing inaccurate passes, the Browns have no chance against a ball-hawking Bills secondary.

The star-studded Browns get back Kareem Hunt this week, but it will not be enough to get past the Bills. The scrambling ability of Josh Allen will cause issues for a streaky Browns defense, and Devin Singletary will pound the ball down their throats. Buffalo will kick a late field goal in a messy game to come out on top.

Arizona Cardinals (+4.5) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Arizona Cardinals have exceeded expectations in the first season under head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Rookie quarterback Kyler Murray has impressed, and a solid running game has helped Arizona reach a respectable 3-4-1 record. The Buccaneers have major issues with the inconsistency of Jameis Winston, and the defense is also very hot-and-cold with all the pressure looks it dials up.

The Cardinals’ air raid offense will give the 32nd-ranked passing defense a lot of trouble because of Murray’s ability to get the ball out of his hands quickly. Winston will make too many mistakes and will allow Arizona to capitalize on turnovers late in the game. The Cardinals win a close contest.

Minnesota Vikings (+3) vs Dallas Cowboys

The 6-3 Vikings started off slow but have been hot lately with quarterback Kirk Cousins playing well. Running back Dalvin Cook has been impressive all year, putting himself in the MVP discussion. The Cowboys have had a rollercoaster of the season, starting off 3-0, then dropping three straight, which included a loss to the hopeless Jets. They are now 5-3 and have a huge roadblock in front of them this week.

Dak Prescott is having a good year, but Kirk Cousins is playing better than him right now.  Dalvin Cook will run straight through the Cowboys defense, which will open up the play-action game. The Vikings are simply the better all-around team and will pull out a win with the assistance of a poor coaching decision by Jason Garrett.

Detroit Lions (+2.5) vs Chicago Bears

No offense is looking worse than the Chicago Bears right now. The Bears are 3-5 and have dropped four straight. The Lions could be leading the NFC North at the moment but have dropped to 3-4-1 due to many unfortunate calls by the referees, as well as sloppy defensive play.

However, the Lions offense is electric. Matthew Stafford is having a historic season and will give trouble to a Chicago defense that will be on the field for way too much of the game.  Mitchell Trubisky is not going to look any better, and the Lions will take advantage by forcing several key turnovers. The Lions will secure the road victory with a late field goal and hand the Bears their fifth straight loss.

New Orleans Saints (-14) vs Atlanta Falcons

The New Orleans Saints have had an amazing season so far with Teddy Bridgewater stepping in for the injured Drew Brees and going undefeated in the process. Now that Brees is back, the 7-1 Saints will keep marching against a poor Falcons team that is struggling to get a win. Atlanta has lost this season and is already focused on the future outlook of the franchise with many questions surrounding the job security of head coach Dan Quinn.

Even with Alvin Kamara out, the Saints will completely dominate the Falcons and lead by double digits by halftime. The only question is whether the Saints will keep the pedal on the gas late with a big lead. Atlanta is so bad that even if New Orleans puts in the backups, the Saints should still increase their lead and cover, winning by more than 20 points.
