CJ Fiedorowicz enjoying the moments

Story posted April 6, 2014 in CommRadio, Sports, NFL Draft by Ryan Stevens

“It’s crazy.”

That’s how former Iowa tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz describes the process leading up to the 2014 NFL Draft.

“Since Jan. 6, I’ve been training for the Senior Bowl, then I was out in San Diego for two and a half months,” Fiedorowicz said. “Now it’s individual workouts and visiting teams.”

The former Hawkeye is coming off a year with six touchdown catches, more than half his entire collegiate total.

“I was a little underutilized because we (Iowa) were so run heavy in our offense,” he said. “I feel like I can stretch the field and block at the line of scrimmage.”

The hype surrounding the Johnsburg, Ill native is growing leading up to the draft. He’s visited with the Texans, Cowboys, Buccaneers and Jaguars. The Bengals also worked out Fiedorowicz at Iowa’s pro day on March 24.

February’s annual NFL Combine allowed Fiedorowicz to give scouts and executives a great look at what he brings to the table while having a little fun with the other tight end participants.

“They’re normal guys. We’re cracking jokes and they’re all guys I would enjoy playing with,” Fiedorowicz said. “Obviously it’s competition, but we all enjoyed competing.”

At the end of the day, Fiedorowicz knows he has what it takes to make it at the next level. The collegiate numbers may not back that up, but nobody would ever guess this is a guy who only caught 91 passes throughout his career.”

“I have reliable hands and I’ve proved myself in games I can make the big catch.”
