Week 10 of the 2018 NFL is in the books and there were certainly some more surprises. Some games were not even close with some unexpected wins and games coming down to the fourth quarter. We saw teams like the Buffalo Bills rise and the New England Patriots fall in week 10, so let’s take a look at another wild week in the NFL.

The week started Thursday night when the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Carolina Panthers. Both teams were coming in with only two losses and it was expected to be a very tight ball game. The exact opposite happened, however, as the Steelers went on to beat the Panthers 52-21.

The Steelers offense led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, was clicking on all cylinders with 10 different players touching the ball on offense, and six of them scoring touchdowns.

Defensively the Steelers did a good job getting pressure on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, forcing him to make bad decisions all game long. The only bright spot in this game for the Panthers was running back Christian McCaffrey, who scored two touchdowns.

In the early slate of games Sunday afternoon, the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears took care of business with easy wins.

After the Bills cut quarterback Nathan Peterman earlier this week, they gave the nod to journeyman Matt Barkley. Barkley, and running back Lesean McCoy led the Bills to a 41-10 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Barkley threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while McCoy ran for over 100 yards and two touchdowns.

New Orleans headed to Cincinnati to play the Bengals and routed them 51-7. The running back duo of Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara continued to lead the Saints with three total touchdowns. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns, two of them to emerging receiver Michael Thomas.

In Kansas City, the Chiefs' high-powered offense hosted the Arizona Cardinals. Although the Cardinals gave it all they had, the Chiefs pulled away late for a 26-14 victory. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes connected to wide receiver Tyreek Hill for two long touchdowns to improve Kansas City to an AFC-best 9-1 record.

In Chicago there was an NFC North showdown between the Bears and the Detroit Lions. The Bears exploded to a 26-0 led and never looked back as they beat the Lions 34-22. Quarterback Mitch Trubisky continues to play well with 355 yards and three touchdowns.

Also, wide receiver Allen Robinson had a breakout game with 133 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears lead the NFC North and control their own destiny at this point in the season.

In the other early games Sunday afternoon there were some teams that took care of business late in the second half to secure the win.

The Washington Redskins headed to Tampa Bay to play the Buccaneers in a low scoring game. The Redskins were up 6-3 at the half but emerged for a 10-point fourth quarter to win 16-3.

The Washington defense gave up 503 yards but tightened up when the Bucs got to the red zone and forced them to kick field goals that were missed. Washington is the leader of the NFC East with a 6-3 record.

Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars for an AFC South divisional matchup. The Colts got up early in this game with a 29-16 lead at halftime, but the Jaguars made things interesting in the second half.

Running back Leonard Fournette returned from injury and had a huge game with a touchdown catch and run. Indianapolis, however, just did enough down the stretch and beat the Jaguars 29-26.  After a 1-5 start to the season, the Colts now are on a three-game win streak.

In the more surprising games of the early games, the Cleveland Browns and the Tennessee Titans picked up surprising wins.

The Browns hosted the Atlanta Falcons and both rookies Baker Mayfield and Nick Chubb had huge games. Mayfield had 216 yards and three touchdowns, while Chubb ran for 176 yards and a touchdown as the Browns beat the Falcons 28-16. 

The Titans hosted the New England Patriots and beat them up on all phases of the game 34-10. Running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver Corey Davis led the way for the Titans with three total touchdowns combined.

Tennessee’s defense did a great job getting to Tom Brady and forcing him to make tough throws. Former Patriots coaches (Mike Vrabel and Matt Patricia) have handed the Patriots two out of their three losses this year.

In the three late games two of them weren’t really close. The Los Angeles Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders 20-6, and the Green Bay Packers beat the Miami Dolphins 31-12.

Rivers and the Chargers are 7-2 and right behind the Chiefs in the AFC West, while the Packers are 4-4-1 and still have some work to do to catch the Minnesota Vikings and Bears.

One of the most exciting games of Sunday afternoon was the Seattle Seahawks traveling to Los Angeles to face the Rams. In a very high scoring game, the Rams held on and won 36-31.

For Seattle, Russell Wilson had three touchdowns, and running back Rashaad Penny had a big game on the ground with 108 yards and a touchdown.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley continued to play well. Goff threw for 318 yards and two touchdowns and Gurley ran for 120 yards and a touchdown. The Rams have control of the NFC West after the win.

Sunday Night Football was one in the NFC East as the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys opened up the playbook and got their best player the ball, Ezekiel Elliott. Elliot ran for 151 yards, and a touchdown.

He also was a pest for the Eagles in the passing game too with six catches for 36 yards and a touchdown. Coming off a bye, the Eagles were favorites in this game, but the Cowboys went into Lincoln Financial Field and came out victorious 27-20.

Although tight end Zach Ertz had 14 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown, the Cowboys defense shut down the other Eagles weapons. Both teams are now 4-5 and are still alive in the NFC East race.

The most entertaining game might have been last night in San Francisco as the 49ers hosted the New York Giants. These teams coming in had a combined 3-14 record, but they put on a show.

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. caught four balls for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Eli Manning led a two-minute drive late in the fourth quarter as he hit Sterling Shepard in the corner of the end zone to take a 27-23 lead.

San Francisco drove all the way down the field, and with one second left from the 20-yard line quarterback Nick Mullens threw an incomplete pass in the back of the end zone, and the Giants held on went on to win it.
