A Panama Canal Captain’s Legacy
The day before his eighteenth birthday Guillermo Manfredo started at a low-level job working in the Panama Canal Zone. He never dreamed that thirty-seven years later he'd become a part of Canal history. Reporter Gabby Santoliquito met with him to hear his story.

As the Digital Managing Editor of the university’s student-run newspaper The Daily Collegian and an Executive Producer for the Centre County Report, Gabby has developed a passion for news and newsroom management. In March she will be traveling to Panama with the College of Communications as a part of the International Reporting class. Gabby will be graduating in May with a degree in broadcast journalism as well as criminology. She hopes to pursue a career as a producer or assignment desk editor.
