Made in Music
Spencer Coolidge is a senior, English major, at Penn State who is a bassist and vocalist for his band Calonetta, which also consists of Alex Lake, Jay Molinaro, and Brandon Lipman. Calonetta’s music is mainly alternative and classic rock, and is influenced by bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Spencer has always held music to be very special in his life ever since his mom signed him up for piano lessons when he was six years old. He then progressed into saxophone, and then switched over to guitar, which he taught himself off of Youtube. When he joined Calonetta, he learned how to play bass. Spencer hopes to continue to play music for the rest of his life, but also has been applying to go to law school and become a lawyer because of his English background.
“I think of being in a band as being on a team, like if you’re playing baseball or any other sport like that. We have to work together and we have to listen to each other throughout. If one of us is slacking, one of the other guys has to pick them up,” Spencer said.
