Stepping out of His Shadow

Joe Ventura, a Penn State senior majoring in Management Internal Systems, says he has always been interested in playing guitar. He played sparingly in high school for fun, but never felt like he would be able to be as good as his father. So, he says he never tried.

"It was awesome watching my dad play guitar, but in a way I felt like I was in his shadow."

Now, he’s away from his father at college and picking back up the instrument he loves.

So far, he has just been practicing simple melodies like Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," but one day he hopes to be able to play the Grateful Dead, his father's favorite band, and carry on the tradition to his son.
