Barbershops are known as a place to relax. There is a certain comfort level people have with their barbers that allow them to enjoy the process of having sharp objects around their face and head.

Donna Weaver of Fetterolf’s in downtown State College is no exception.

Donna grew up in a family of barbers and has been cutting hair ever since she was little. Her warm smile and ability to tell stories has her booked throughout the week with appointments from her regulars.

She cut Joe Paterno’s hair in the 80s, as well as all his sons once they were old enough. Notable Penn State football players have strolled through her shop. From Todd Blackledge to Kerry Collins, Donna cut Nittany Lion quarterback’s hair for two decades.

What Donna has established in her little shop is not the luxury of an expensive salon, but the comfort of a great conversation with family.
