Renpeng Dong is a third-year graduate student in the Doctor of Musical Arts program for piano at Penn State. He has been playing piano since he was in fourth grade and was inspired by his parents to continue his career in music. His parents lived during the oppressive time of the Chinese Cultural Revolution with dreams that one day their son could have musical opportunities that they never had. As he finishes grad school, Dong is applying for jobs in China and in the United States in hopes of becoming a teacher while continuing to perform as a pianist.
