Julia Gurule attended the “Woke Towers in the Attic of The State Theatre” Monday March 27, 2017 in the State College Theatre. Gurule is a junior studying labor and employment relations in women studies.

The event was defined as “an exhibition and dialogue on the craft of compassion and the role of artistic spaces.” “Woke” means social awareness especially in reference to black culture. Gurule highly enjoyed listening to the poetry, viewing the art, and participating in the discussion that followed. She strongly believes that their should be more events like this to spread awareness of social movements like this around campus.
