Penn State has come up with a plan, after it was suggested to them by the NCAA in light of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal, to prevent and spread awareness about child abuse. The University has announced plans over the next three years to hire a dozen research staff members in order to reach their goals. Together these additional faculty will work with Penn State's current faculty (over 400 members) towards their goals of knowledge, education, prevention, and outreach. The University hopes to bring more awareness to child abuse in the State College community, as well as to make a statement nationally in order to regain respect.
