Jimmy Quinn is approaching graduation from Penn State University this May and has spent the last four years of college teaching himself how to play guitar from watching YouTube videos and recognizing familiar sounds.

Quinn finds that playing guitar with friends or random people allows them to communicate with each other through instruments and it brings a sense of meditation for him because he said “it gives me no time to think about external things, just the music.”

Sometimes he may pop up on stage with some friends at the Rathskeller in downtown State College, but most of the time he is jamming out with and without friends in his apartment. Though he said some roommates don’t like it at times, they all eventually gather around to relax, get work done or have a beer while he plays a new song or takes requests.
