Under Center: Episode One
Ben Borus and Mitchell Broder discuss some of the National Football League’s hottest topics on the first episode of the Under Center Podcast:
Week five of the NFL was filled with drama. It all started with New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.’s comments to the media about his team that didn’t go over so well with some of his teammates and head coach Pat Shurmur.
Sunday’s action also featured the under-performing the Philadelphia Eagles, which suffered their third loss of the season to the Minnesota Vikings. For the defending Super Bowl champions, a losing record approaching the halfway mark of the season is quite surprising.
Week five concluded with a record-breaking performance by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. After his 363-yard performance on Monday, he now has the record for the most passing yards in NFL history with 72,103.
Upsets happen every week in the NFL so for week six we believe that Kansas City Chiefs could come into Foxborough and take down the New England Patriots. Behind their high powered offense led by a budding superstar in Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs could find themselves as this week’s David.
It’s the beginning of week six in the NFL which means that we are approaching the annual trade deadline. As teams are scrambling around the league to put the finishing touches on their rosters, we came up with three players that we would like to see traded.
Rumors have been circulating that Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy has been generating interest from teams. The Bills seem to be in full rebuild mode centered around rookie quarterback Josh Allen. We think it’s time that McCoy gets to play for a real contender.
Banged up Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker is also someone that you might see moved before the deadline. His production has not lived up to all of the hype he had coming out of college. It could be time for him to pair up with a young quarterback in need of some offensive weapons.
Lastly, the most unlikely of the three is Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. The Buccaneers seem to be stagnating, as they have yet to eclipse the playoffs during first-round quarterback Jameis Winston’s tenure. Gerald McCoy is arguably their most valuable asset that the Buccaneers would be willing to move.
