Under Center: Episode 4

Audio/Story posted 5 days ago in CommRadio, Sports by Sports Staff

Mitch Broder, Ben Borus and Pat Tartaro discuss this week’s hottest topics in the NFL in episode four of the Under Center Podcast:

In this episode of Under Center, things get started off as the guys discuss the game of the week, which was the matchup between the Saints and the Rams. The Saints won 45-35 putting an end to the Rams undefeated season.

In the process, Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas had monster game recording 12 receptions for 211 yards and a touchdown followed by arguably the best celebration of the year. To make it even more impressive he did this on all-pro cornerback Marcus Peters. Thomas has proven that he is one of the brightest stars in the NFL.

Also, despite the Rams acquiring former third overall pick Donte Fowler Jr. to add to their dominant defensive line, the Rams finished with no sacks, a surprising stat to see with the talent they have.

Staying with the Saints, it has been fun to watch one particular player this season in do-it-all player Tayson Hill. The former BYU quarterback has been a swiss army knife type of player for Sean Payton.

There seems to be no limit as to what Hill can be used for. However, is Hill's use making it seem like the Saints should have selected Lamar Jackson in this past draft? Certainly, a fun discussion for sure.

Le’veon Bell posted a tweet that fired discussion throughout the NFL as it referred to the fact he was leaving Miami, which is where Bell has been training recently. Bell has been holding out this season in hopes of getting a new contract and has yet to play a down this season.

Where is Bell going and will he play for the Steelers at some point this season? Has the emergence of James Conner made Bell expendable? It will be interesting to watch this situation play out.

The Packers are not having a great season so far as they currently have a record of just 3-4-1 after losing to New England on Sunday Night Football. It’s a real question if the Packers will qualify for the postseason despite having maybe the best quarterback in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers.

Is it time for head coach Mike McCarthy to be fired? The performance of the Packers over the past few seasons has potentially suggested that it could be the case. Additionally, how much is the Packers front office to blame for the poor play on the field? The Under Center crew sees some changing coming up north to Green Bay in the foreseeable future.
