UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State's Class Gift Campaign announced today the legacy the class of 2019 will leave on campus.

"I am un-bee-lievably happy to announce that the class of 2019 has chosen to support the pollinators' garden entry gate," Tom Beeby, Executive Director of the Class Gift Campaign, said.

As a new addition to the arboretum, the garden will explain pollinators' relationship to plants, and support pollinator research.

Students' other choices were an LGBTQA+ Student Resource Center emergency fund or a scholarship for Work Link, a certificate program at Penn State meant to help students with intellectual disabilities.

Penn State Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations Rich Bundy said the garden will leave a lasting imprint, like past class gifts, including the HUB aquarium and "We Are" sculpture outside Beaver Stadium.

"The arboretum will soon fulfill its longstanding vision for a garden that will attract and sustain native pollinators, species of birds and insects," Bundy said.

Construction for the garden is set to begin in early 2019.
