Maddie Brightman is the General Manger of ComRadio and a reporter and producer for the Centre County Report. A member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, Maddie was recently a part of reporting trips to Cuba and Super Bowl 50. At ComRadio, she also serves as a producer for multiple Penn State sports has done play by play for Penn State football, baseball and lacrosse.

Maddie has interned at ESPN, Fox Sports Radio (Los Angeles), WBAL-TV (Baltimore) and 105.7 the Fan (Baltimore). A Long Island native, John McHugh has known that he wanted to pursue sports broadcasting from a young age. Since then he has seized every opportunity he can, coming to Penn State and doing extensive work with ComRadio and other campus media organizations.

In addition to play-by-play, beat writing, and podcasting at ComRadio, John is currently the host of The Fast Lane, Penn State’s only NASCAR talk show, and ComRadio Country Countdown.

In the professional world, John has interned in the Sports Department and News 12 Long Island, in the news department at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia in the summer of 2016. He has also written for the Automobile Association of America (AAA) Northeast’s website and Car and Travel magazine for the past three summers.

Sam Goldstein is a Senior from Cromwell, Connecticut studying broadcast journalism with minors in business, LER and psychology. Mike D’Avella is a senior from West Chester, Pa., majoring in broadcast journalism with a minor in business. He is a sports director, producer, play-by-play voice, talk show personality and beat writer on the sports side of CommRadio. Mike is also a member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism. He has completed internships with the Philadelphia Phillies in the summers of 2014 and 2015, MLB.com Advanced Media in the spring of 2016, the State College Spikes Minor League baseball production department in the summer of 2016 and Interscope Records in Santa Monica, California. He is also the drummer in a State College based Alternative Rock band called “The New Feel” who has performed at venues such as the Bryce Jordan Center. Jon Gross is a senior from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey double-majoring in broadcast journalism and International Politics. Gross currently serves as a Sports Director for Penn State’s CommRadio, where he has also broadcasted for ten Penn State sports teams. During the summer of 2018, Gross was the Director of Broadcasting for the Saugerties Stallions of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. He was also the radio play-by-play voice of the Penn State Women’s Volleyball team for the 2017 season. Gross has interned in the sports departments of WCBS-TV (New York) and WTAJ-TV (Altoona-Johnstown-State College).

Tom Shively is a senior from Ashburn, Virginia. He is one of the CommRadio sports directors for the 2018-19 school year. He serves as the women’s volleyball and men’s basketball producer and has broadcasted several Penn State sports including the 2018 NFL Draft as well as hosting a talk show airing weekly on CommRadio. Tom also works for GoPSUsports.com, doing feature-style coverage of women’s volleyball and women’s basketball. David Arroyo currently serves as one of two General Managers for CommRadio. David is a former arts & entertainment director, social media director and editor for the station. He has produced for multiple Penn State sports while in CommRadio, has done play by play for Penn State sporting events such as football, basketball and volleyball and co-hosted and produced his own talk show. During the fall of 2017, David was an anchor, producer and reporter for the Centre County Report. David most recently interned at WPVI-TV, 6abc in Philadelphia during the summer of 2018. Eric Ohlson is a member of ComRadio’s sports and production staffs. He is majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Kinesiology and is a member of the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism. Eric has done play-by-play for Penn State lacrosse, volleyball, softball, soccer and hockey, and has served as a producer for volleyball and hockey. George is currently a student at The Pennsylvania State University studying Broadcast Journalism. He was accepted into the Curley Center for Sports Journalism, and is an active member in the College of Communications radio station.

During his time at Penn State, George covered college football, the NFL, college hockey, and college baseball.

In 2016, George provided play-by-play and color analysis for multiple Penn State sports, including football, mens hockey, and womens hockey for ComRadio.

George currently works for Fansided Inc. as an editor/expert for “NFL Mocks” covering the NFL, College Football, and NFL Draft. He holds the same title for Fansided’s Philadelphia Phillies site “That Ball’s Outta Here.” Throughout the 2016 football season, George published two weekly columns for Fansided.com.

Previously, he interned for Scout Media, Inc. during the summer of 2016 in Seattle, Washington, where he wrote columns, produced videos, and covered The Opening Football camp at the Nike World Headquarters.

Brian McLaughlin is a Senior in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications and one of two student General Managers for CommRadio. He is a Play-by-Play voice for many Penn State sports for CommRadio. Recently he has worked as a Play by Play broadcaster for the Y-D Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Dylan Huberman is a Centre County Report student, a contributor for CommRadio, where he formerly served as the co-host of several talk shows, including the NFL talk show “The Point After” with Tyler King, and “Empire State College” with Charles Hart, and also makes regular appearances for PSNtv’s “Penn State Sports Night.” Nicknamed “Hot-take Huberman” by CommRadio alum George Stockburger, Dylan is known for his fiery, outside-the-box style of sports analysis. Outside of Penn State, Dylan has worked as a desk assistant for ABC News out of their Los Angeles Bureau, as well as an intern in the sports department with KABC-TV Los Angeles, and is an editorial writer for Clutchpoints, covering the NBA and NFL. One day, Dylan hopes to make it onto television as a sports analyst or play-by-play announcer, but is very interested in sports radio and editorial writing as well.
